CHALLENGE

A major retail company, with more than 120 stores in the country, needed an efficient solution for the process of defining schedules and shifts for each of its establishments, seeking to digitize the process, until now manual, which fell on the store manager.

RESULTS

The automation of the staff assignment process at physical sales points through our AI system generated the following hits:

Create a staff shift plan in seconds, when before each store manager spent hours on this task.

Generate a much more efficient shift plan: the new staff assignment was not only based on constraints, but optimized the assignment so that it exactly matched the hourly need in real time, drastically reducing staff costs.

Define an optimal model to optimally manage HR in stores, optimizing costs and making the most of human capital, obtaining the maximum number of hours possible worked per day by employee. That is, achieve the same volume of work with the smallest possible staff.

Guarantee the continuity of the workers' day. Avoiding excessive intermittences outside the established agreement conditions and the breaks agreed with each one.

For this, a formula based on Genetic Algorithms was developed that shuffled the following variables: Volume of workers, hourly contracts, hard constraints (legal conditions, etc), store opening hours, sales forecast by time slot and weekly workloads.
